Learn about how to build stronger bonds and how to enhance your family's
resiliency through various fun and educational workshops for parents and
children. Registration packages can be picked up and returned at the following
locations: BCF, Drumheller Public Library, Town Hall and Campus Alberta.

1. Kids About Drugs: A Parents Guide to Prevention

Presenter: Cora Bolt - Alberta Health Services Addiction & Mental Health
Workshop Goals: Help parents understand their important role when it comes to kids and drugs, to learn practical strategies
for communicating well with children and learn more about commonly used drugs.

 

2. Triple P Parenting

Workshop Presenter: Margaret Manley - Golden Prairie Parent Link
Workshop Goals: The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program ® is a parenting and family support system designed to prevent
– as well as treat – behavioural and emotional problems in children and teenagers. It aims to prevent problems in the family,
school and community before they arise and to create family environments that encourage children to realize their potential.

 

3. Handle With Care 

Workshop Presenter: Bonita Hudson - Golden Prairie Parent Link
Workshop Goals: Handle with Care is a simple interactive program to help parents and caregivers, including those who work
in early childhood settings, to promote the mental health of young children from birth to 6 years.

 

4. Brain Building

Workshop Presenters: Chanel Gano & Misty Griffith -AHS-Addiction & Mental Health and Project Reach
Workshop Goals: The Brain Architecture Game is a tabletop game experience that builds an understanding of the powerful role
of experiences on early brain development – what promotes it, what derails it, with what consequences for society

 

Afternoon Sessions:
 

1. Children’s and Teens' Mental Health

Presenter: Saowanee Srisuriyamart - Alberta Health Services Addiction & Mental Health
Workshop Goals: To help parents understand some common mental health issues in children and teenagers, and to provide
some practical tips on how to prevent and/or manage them.

 

2. Positive Partnering

Presenters: Gerald Mancini & Trina Macfarlane -Alberta Health Services Addiction & Mental Health
Workshop Goals: This session will focus on exploring communication styles within relationships and will offer tips and
strategies to support healthy relationships as well as managing conflict respectfully.

 

3. Special Needs Children and Children With Learning Disabilities:

Workshop Presenter: Cindy Law, Reading Therapist Drumheller Family Literacy
Workshop Goals: This session will focus on how to empower the child who learns differently, sharing tools, strategies, and
how to find joy in the journey.

 

4. Ways to Wellness

Workshop Presenter: Chanel Gano - AHS-Addiction & Mental Health
Workshop Goals: Fun, an upbeat and informative session focusing on YOU! When we invest and take care of ourselves, we
are better able to take care of others! This session will focus on what we all need to THRIVE and be our best selves.
Parameters of Physical, Spiritual, Emotional wellness will be explored in an interactive format including mindfulness, stress
reduction, physical activity, sleep and healthy eating ideas you can get started on right away to live your best life!
