Greentree School is churning out some smart cookies according to their recent Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT).
The school has been above average on PAT scores for a number of years.
"Greentree has been very consistently well above the provincial average four to five years," explained Principal Erin Campbell-Bentley. "We have been very successful in math, science, social and language arts. We were above the provincial for test average (in 2017-2018), we were also above the provincial average for the number of students passing the test."
The statistics are huge in this day and age of education as the system has often been doubted.
"We are extremely proud and very excited because we are in that time where you turn on the news, and it is talking about Alberta students math results. We can honestly say we are well above the provincial average on that. It is hard working students and amazing teachers," continued Campbell-Bentley.
Greentree School prides themselves on their education model, and Campbell-Bentley thinks it is what makes her school stand out from the rest.
"We do a lot of critical thinking in our teaching and so it gives the students a lot of opportunities to take ownership of what they do and really build on that, and dig deep on the learning that they are interested in. It definitely has been reflective in how we have done in the last five years."
