Intramurals

Extracurricular at Greentree School

Greentree School offers students in grade four-six the opportunity to participate in an extensive intramural program.  Intramurals are available on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch hour from October to May.  Students sign up for a particular sport on the bulletin by the Office.  They are then placed on a team with a grade six captain.  There is great number of students who participate regularly in intramurals.

The benefits of intramurals are numerous by providing students with an exciting and enjoyable experience.  It allows each student a level of success and accomplishment by helping them develop self-confidence and positive relationships.  Cooperation, sportsmanship and team work are also an integral aspect of intramurals.  Knowledge of sports, gross motor skills and physical activity are also advantages of intramurals.

Intramurals fall under the leadership of Mrs. Salvatore and sport representatives.  There is a recognition component to the intramural program.  Students who exhibit sportsmanship, skill and effort are nominated as Athlete of Month.  Usually a boy and girl is selected for Athlete of Month and they receive a T-shirt at the monthly assembly.
